Earth 48 Single-Dome LED Operating Light

The Earth 48 is a ceiling-mounted LED operating light with a single 48-LED head, each 500 mm across and rated at 160,000 lux. It is suited to minor theatres, procedure rooms, day-surgery units and delivery suites. The light field focuses from 100 to 150 mm with 10 to 15 cm of depth illumination, and a colour rendering index of 95 Ra with a 3800–5200 K colour temperature range keeps tissue colours true, which matters when telling perfused from ischaemic tissue. A floor-standing mobile version on a wheeled stand is also available for rooms without a ceiling mount.

The surgeon positions the head from inside the sterile field using the detachable, sterilisable central handle, and intensity is set digitally from 10 to 100 on the control panel or the remote, with five memory settings for routine procedures. LED technology keeps heat off the wound and out of the surgeon's face, the LEDs are rated for more than 50,000 hours, and the aluminium body is built for daily cleaning. The Earth 48 and Glanza 500 share the same optical specification, so the choice between them comes down to head styling and the arm layout that suits the room. Battery backup is available as an option.
